Vincent van Gogh was fond of the south. One of his big wishes was to see Japan. He had a great adoration for japanese artists. As he knew that he never could visit Japan he makes Arles to his Japan. When he arrived there he wrote to his sister that he reached his Japan. The first picture he painted was a blossoming peachtree.
